Heilige Duisternis!! What in the name of the Lord is this??? In hemelsnaam kan iemand me vertellen waar ik naar zit te luisteren? Geheime satanische rituelen?
Extreem duistere horror verhalen? Mythologische vertellingen van de egyptenaren? Ik weet het niet en ik moet zeggen dat het me na enigzins verdiepen in de teksten
van het boekje wat bij deze cd hoort het me nog niet duidelijk is. Juist, dat zal vast wel de bedoeling zijn geweest van Equimanthorn die met hun release
Second Sephira Cella furore willen maken aan het front der duistere ambient muziek.
Dit is buitengewoon vage duistere ambient muziek. Maar ik kan het wel waarderen. De band waar ik nog het meest aan moet denken is Each Dawn I Die die met hun cd
Notes From A Holy War indruk maakte op mij zo’n 8 jaar terug. Dit is nog net iets vager. Muzikaal valt er moeilijk echt wat te vertellen, maar deze schijf zou erg goed
passen als achtergrond muziek bij een lange duistere horrorpoetry avond. Kaarsen aan, de gierende wind om het huis en griezelen maar. Er zitten egyptische en arabische sounds in de muziek, wat het geheel juist interessant maakt. Maar om het echt allemaal te kunnen bevatten moet
je deze schijf echt zelf luisteren als je dit soort muziek kunt waarderen tenminste. Als je dat kunt is dit zeker de duistere moeite waard!
Equimanthorn is een side-project van leden van de bands Absu, Melechesh en The Soil Bleeds Black en heeft slechts 2 andere releases op haar naam staan genaamd:
Lectionum Antiquarum uit 1999 waar demos op staan en Nindinugga Nimshimshargal Enlillra uit 1993. Die cd’s ken ik niet maar misschien moet ik die obscure schijfjes toch maar eens
gaan beluisteren. Nee, Equimanthorn zal niet voor iedereen weggelegd zijn, maar liefhebbers van de duisternis kunnen denk ik wel hun hart ophalen. Vaagheid ten top!
