Suicide Circle – Bukkake Of Souls

The band name Suicide Circle may not ring a bell for everyone, hence we introduce you to this project by Meyhna’ch who we of course know from Mütillation. After the debut album Shotgun Prayers was released, guitarist Rats parted ways and since then there has been disagreement about the use of the band name. However, Bukkake Of Souls is released by Osmose Productions under the name Suicide Circle with Meyhna’ch and Kham taking care of all the instruments.

Anyone who expects this to involve a second Mütillation will be disappointed. Suicide Circle seems to be the outlet where both gentlemen show a musical side that is less about speed and more about atmosphere. This immediately becomes clear in the opener The Star Spawn when this song builds up slowly, using guitars with a flanger effect over it. After more than two minutes the remaining instruments are blended in and a slow, atmospheric, and menacing song unfolds.

In The Highest Spheres it gets a little faster (and some melody is also involved) and you as a listener are taken further and further into the dark and sinister atmosphere of Bukkake Of Souls. The Highest Spheres is a song that is full of Mayhem influences, especially in the vocal area. Only when we get to the title track do we go full throttle and hear some Mütillation influences. The last few songs of Bukkake Of Souls are a nice mix of slow and faster songs with The Prince Of Darkness as the highlight. Therefor the second part of the album holds the best songs.

Bukkake Of Souls will be released in the period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Too late to give it to someone as a gift during the holidays, but still in time to submit it for your annual list.
