Enbilulugugal – Black Noise Armageddon: Denying 13 Years of Existence

Wat een afgrijselijke ervaringen kun je als recensent toch meemaken. Enbilulugugal komt uit The States en terroriseert de ondergrondse muziekindustrie dus al dertien jaar met blackmetal en noise. Dit jaar brengen ze na bakken vol demo’s, splits en twee full-lengths, die ik overigens nooit zal opzoeken, een compilatie op de markt. Het maakt echt niet uit welke van deze tracks op welke plaat staan, het klinkt allemaal even erbarmelijk.

Soms kan je problemen hebben om te beschrijven hoe geweldig je iets vindt, ik heb er problemen mee om de pijn in mijn oren uit te drukken. Sporadisch wat duistere insteek die neigt naar ambient of een erg “cult” stukje oldschool black (Asrualimnunna) en dan is meteen al het positieve gezegd. Creativiteit richting Impaled Northern Moonforest, met overigens artwork en songtitels die dicht in de buurt komen van die grap. Verder is het er echt om gedaan om het meest rauwe, onuitstaanbare geluid op plaat uit te brengen met blackmetal-“muzikanten” die met hun frustraties geen blijf wisten en maar even alles eruit ramden. Meermaals doet dit alles me denken aan een gremlin die stilaan wegsmelt in een oven. Materiaal voor wie echt wil werken aan zijn uithoudingsvermogen, ik vind dat ik zelf een schouderklopje verdien omdat ik het dit eindeloze anderhalf uur heb uitgehouden.
