Nieuwjaarsgroet 2019 en de redactiejaarlijstjes!

Ratelbanden beuken nog na als blastbeats, vuurwerkpijlen als gierende gitaarsolo’s: niet alleen een jaar, maar een heel decennium is verstreken. Tijd voor een nieuwjaarsgroet waarin we stilstaan bij de recente ontwikkelingen omtrent Zware Metalen en we de jaarlijstjes van onze redactieleden gratis meesturen! Allereerst wensen we jullie uiteraard een goed begin van het nieuwe jaar toe. Of het nu een voortzetting van succes of juist een nieuw begin is: welkom in 2020, welkom op Zware Metalen!

Waar het verstrijken van een decennium voor velen een aanleiding is om de afgelopen tien jaar in beschouwing te nemen, doet Zware Metalen daar liever een schepje bovenop. In 2020 bestaat dit prachtige metalzine namelijk twintig jaar en dus zullen we in de komende maanden terug gaan kijken op ons volledige bestaan! Om dit jubileum te vieren, hebben we een hoop verrassingen in petto. Wees dus niet verbaasd wanneer je een terugkeer van het Zware Metalen Fest voorbij ziet komen, maar daarover in de toekomst meer!

Vorig jaar schreven we dat 2018 het succesvolste jaar ooit voor Zware Metalen was, maar dat klopt inmiddels niet meer. Dat was 2019. Knoop het volgende maar eens in je oren:

  • Met bijna twee miljoen paginaweergaven en meer dan 300.000 unieke bezoekers was ons leesverkeer 50% omvangrijker dan het vorige jaar.
  • De totale leestijd komt neer op 3.6 mensen die iedere seconde van 2019 een artikel op Zware Metalen gelezen hebben.
  • Voor het eerst publiceerden we 1.000 albumrecensies in één jaar. De nieuwsberichten (818 stuks), liveverslagen (242 stuks) en interviews (64) bleven ook niet uit.
  • De frontpage werd opnieuw ingedeeld met een overzicht per categorie in de linkerkolom en een chronologische feed met recente artikelen in de rechterkolom.
  • We herlanceerden onze concertagenda met optredens waar Zware Metalen bij betrokken is en introduceerden de categorie ‘Van Eigen Bodem’ waardoor lokale bands duidelijker op onze website naar voren komen.
  • Osmium, de zwaarste podcast in het Nederlands, werd geboren. Om de week een uur lang aandacht voor de ontwikkelingen in de metalscene, te beluisteren via Spotify, Apple Music, Stitcher en Deezer; te volgen op Facebook en Instagram!
  • Er werd voor ruim 25.000 euro aan concertkaartjes via prijsvragen verloot.
  • We gingen vele nieuwe partnerschappen aan om lokale initiatieven te ondersteunen.
  • Op Facebook tikten we de 25.000 volgers aan, terwijl het aantal volgers op onze Instagram verdubbelde naar bijna 3.000.

Dat alles doen we niet vanuit grootheidswaanzin (althans; wie schrijft, wil gelezen worden), maar om alle facetten van de metalmuziek in Nederland en België te ondersteunen. Daar zijn niet alleen de vijftig enthousiaste redacteuren van Zware Metalen verantwoordelijk voor, maar ook de inmiddels honderdduizenden lezers van onze artikelen. Samen zorgen we er voor dat we de wereldwijde en lokale metalscene niet alleen in leven houden, maar laten bruisen. Moge dat in 2020 weer het geval zijn!

Dan is het nu traditiegetrouw tijd voor de jaarlijstjes van de redactieleden. Zelf heb je nog even de tijd om je eigen jaarlijstje voor de ZM Jaarlijst 2019 in te dienen. Wellicht kun je uit de onderstaande lijstjes wat inspiratie putten!
